While other award shows call for timeless, classic looks, we can always count on the Teen Choice Awards for a more colorful and experimental take on beauty. And after much deliberation and research, we can say that one of our favorite looks from yesterday's red carpet goes to none other than Pretty Little Liars actress and Avon ambassador Lucy Hale.

She paired her appliquГ©d pea-green Fausto Puglisi dress with a rich cranberry eye shadow. Or so we thought. According to Avon celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan, Hale was wearing lipstick on her eyelids. "Matching the lip to the dress would have been too predictable," said Deenihan, "so instead I used that same rich, bright color on her eyes. When you don't have the exact shade you're looking for, you gotta get creative and go custom."

The product responsible for that beautiful blush red is this $8 pick from (you guessed it) Avon. Deenihan applied it to Hale's lid, crease, and bottom lash line using a fluffy eye shadow brush. Interestingly enough, the cream lipstick acted as both a base color and as a primer for the powder shadow that would be applied on top.

For the powder, Deenihan used the bottom left red shade from the Chanel Candor et Experience Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow ($61). We love layering powder on top of cream shadow since it's a great way to reduce creasing, shine, and fallout from eye makeup. To finish off Hale's eyes, Deenihan applied black mascara and a brow pencil.

To make the eyes the focus, Deenihan went subtle on the rest of Hale's face. After a touch of Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation ($64), bronzer, and highlighter, Deenihan swiped Mark. by Avon All Butter Now Lip Treat in Bare All ($11), which is a nude beige.
