Face Shape: Round Part: Middle or Deep Side PartGetty
“If you have a round shape, the ideal part line is down the middle or a deep side part,” Fowler says. “Both of these parts will give the illusion of length and create symmetry around your face.”
If your face shape is round, part your hair down the middle or with a deep side part. “If you have a round shape, the ideal part line is down the middle or a deep side part,” Fowler says. “Both of these parts will give the illusion of length and create symmetry around your face.”Getty
Fowler warns against adding too many layers to your hairstyle if your face shape is round: “Add just enough to slim the face.”
If thinking of getting a haircut, look to shorter styles. They compliment a round shape face and help it to be more balanced.
Face Shape: Square Part: Side Part With BangsGetty
Fowler says that a soft, sideswept part with bangs or a swoop will add softness to square-faced ladies.
Dean recommends an extra-deep side part to elongate your features: “The sides of the face are commonly straight, meaning an extra-deep side part is your new best friend.”Getty
Fowler suggests not going too deep: “You don't want to make the part too deep-this will accentuate the angles of a square face,” says Fowler. Instead, show just enough skin on your forehead and allow your bangs to offset your angled jawline.
Face Shape: Oval Part: Any PartGetty
Oval-faced ladies can pull off pretty much any part. Fowler says the most “ideal” face shape for any part is the oval-shaped face.
This is the easiest of face shapes to style for, as Dean recommends playing with your part: “Deep side, middle, sideswept all generally work well with the oval face shape.”
An oval face shape “allows you to try a middle, side, or deep part-and you will rock every single one!” If you have an oval-shaped face, play around with your part and mix things up.
Face Shape: Heart Part: Deep Side PartGetty
Fowler says a deep side part will break up the chin line, which can be pointy if you have a heart-shaped face. “You want to soften your cheekbones as well,” Fowler says.Getty
“A deep side part will brush softly against your face and give this illusion,” says Dean.
If your hair naturally parts down the middle, create a side part by parting your hair while it is wet, then applying a gel to hold the new part in place. Use a fine-toothed comb to direct your hair in the new direction as you blow dry.
However, Dean says to experiment with a middle part and play around with layers to help enhance your features, like Reese Witherspoon's layered lob. “Also try a half-up, half-down look to emphasize the eyes and shape of your face. Heart-shaped faces are unique, so show them off as much as you can,” says Dean.
Face Shape: Diamond Part: Side Part, No BangsGetty
If you have a diamond-shaped face, you want to stay away from short bangs and stick to side parts. “A side part really complements your strong cheekbones and bone structure,” Fowler remarks.Getty
Fowler says shorter hairstyles work best for this look since diamond-shaped ladies have smaller foreheads. Anything too long and dramatic will overshadow your face.
Face Shape: Oblong Part: Middle Part or BangsGetty
A middle part is ideal for oblong faces. Fowler suggests a middle part to add the illusion of roundness to oblong faces.Getty
“Bangs also work very well for this look because they help shorten the long face shape,” Fowler says. She recommends asking for a haircut with layers to bring out your cheekbones and strong jawline.
