Lili Reinhart Opens Up About Her Cystic Acne in the Realest Way

Whenever Instagram is not such a curated highlight reel of filtered, close-to-perfect-looking images, it's so refreshing. Recently, an "acne positivity" wave has been taking over Instagram, and celebs, includingВ Lena Dunham, Lorde, Cameron Diaz, Keira Knightley, Emma Stone, and Kendall Jenner, have been open and honest about their personal struggles with their skin, proving that despite the glamorous red carpet images, they're just like us and the 60 million people in the U.S. who deal with acne.

Last month, Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart took to IG Stories on Friday, April 6, 2018, to show off her "Tinder profile," which is a selfie of her smiling and showcasing her spot-treating her pimples with the caption, "Tinder profile: Hi I'm Lili. I'm 21, a Virgo, Cali-girl, and I have cystic acne. Hmu."

This isn't the first time Reinhart has been candid about her skin. In an exclusive interview with Byrdie, she shared her experience with cystic acne: "I still struggle with cystic acne, so I'm the same way in the sense that when I'm watching myself on screen, I'm like, wow, my skin looks good," says Reinhart. "In person, and I hope this might help readers feel a little bit better about themselves, my skin doesn't look as great or as perfect as it does on the show. It's lighting, it's smoke and mirrors, and the show's head makeup artist, Erin McKenzie, is really amazing-she's the reason my skin looks like that."

She goes on to share her go-to skincare routine, which includes products for acne-prone skin from RenГ©e Rouleau's skincare line and even calls out the fact that red carpet images are her "at her best" and not at all how she looks every day. "I don't look like that every day, and I think that's important for people to know," she reiterates. "That's me with a professional hair and makeup team, and I'd really like to be open and break the illusion that that's how I look all the time because it's really not."

Not that she can get any more relatable than she already is, but in the past, she also shared her love affair with the cult product Amazon users can't get enough of for her cystic acne-the one and only viral Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask.

She's decided to make this an ongoing conversation about acne, in hopes of normalizing breakouts, since nearly everyone deals with them. On Monday, May 21, 2018, the actress decided to open up about exactly what she's feeling when dealing with her cystic acne on big days. She shared her honest thoughts in an "adult acne story time" on her IG stories.В

She finished off with a makeup-free selfie, captioned, "Thanks for listening," showing her acne spot cream and all.В
